Volunteers giving away trees

Tree Pittsburgh’s motto of protecting and growing the urban forest of Southwestern Pennsylvania is at work in McKeesport.

The organization partnered with Mayor Michael Cherepko’s office to host a reservation-only tree giveaway in Renziehausen Park on April 30. Due to the overwhelming initial response to the event, Tree Pittsburgh a second wave of free trees specifically for McKeesport residents. The giveaway was a success, with area residents taking home a variety of saplings that should thrive in their home landscapes. Mayor Cherepko said he looks forward to hosting seasonal events with Tree Pittsburgh in the spring and fall each year.
