The Versailles Avenue Bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic after city officials pushed for a prompt re-inspection.

The Versailles Avenue Bridge, a viaduct that carries one of McKeesport’s busiest neighborhood roads over a portion of the City’s Sixth Ward, is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic after city officials pushed for a prompt re-inspection.
Mayor Michael Cherepko announced the closure on Friday, February 11, 2022 – explaining that an immediate closure is in the best interest of public safety for the McKeesport community.
Concrete barriers were put in place at both ends of the bridge Friday morning. “Bridge closed” and “detour” signs are expected to go up Monday, February 14, 2022. The formal detour will follow Coursin Street to Fifth Avenue to Evans Avenue to avoid residential areas.
